Beet Washer Impeller Repair.

The asset operates within a wet and abrasive environment, which naturally erodes the impeller and reduces operational efficiency.

The substrate was prepared as per SSPC-SP10 standard, using grit-blasting methods to remove all rust and provide a clean and rough surface profile for mechanical adhesion.

The impeller was first rebuilt on its edges using traditional welding methods. Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) was then used to bond Ceramic Tiles to the exterior faces of the impeller. Belzona 1814 a ceramic carbide filled epoxy was then used to protect all flat surfaces likely to come into contact with heavy slurry abrasion. Once cured, a Hempel coating was used as a topcoat over the entirety of the impeller for aesthetic purposes.

Note: This project was undertaken whilst employed by Belzona Limited on behalf of Spiral.
