Bonna Pipe Repair.

A Bonna pipe operating at negative pressure within a bio-ethanol production facility, had deteriorated due to continuous immersion service within a manhole. This resulted in the concrete cracking over extended periods of time, leading to through-wall defects forming within its structure and subsequently reducing the efficiency of the closed loop system.

The substrate cleaned as per WJA standard and was prepared as per SSPC-SP2 standard, using an Hand Tools to remove any mud and loose concrete from the pipe whilst also providing a surface profile for mechanical adhesion.

Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) was used to seal the concrete crack. Once sealed, Belzona 4151 (Magma-Quartz Resin) mixed with Cabosil (thickening agent) and a Grey dye (powder form) for aesthetics was used as a topcoat to seal the entirety of the Bonna pipe area.

Note: This project was undertaken whilst employed by Belzona Limited on behalf of Spiral.
